Sikaflex-HP 1

1 component elastic polyurethane based sealant.

Product description: Sikaflex-HP 1 is an elastic joint sealant based on polyurethane. Sikaflex-HP 1 is a 1-component, ready for use product and reacts with moisture to a elastic sealant.

Fields of application: · Joints in Building Construction,

- e.g. Balcony Parapets, .

    • on concrete
    • on aerated concrete
  • connection joints in building construction

- around windows and doors

- facade and metal claddings and concrete elements

  • sealing of joints of wooden and metal structures

Do not use Sikaflex-HP 1 as glass sealer, in floor joints, glass sealing and in joints with permanent water immersion. Before using on natural stone ask your sales manager.

Colour : concrete grey, white

Colour deviations may occur due to chemicals, high temperature, UV-radiation (especially with colour shade white). A change in colour do not influence the technical and protective quality of the product.

Shelf life: In original containers, in cool and dry environment at temperatures between +10°C and +25°C: 12 months.

Preparation

and planning: Joints must be properly dimensioned as changes are normally no longer feasible after construction. Basis for calculation of the necessary joint width are the technical characteristic values of the joint sealer and the adjacent building materials, the exposure of the building elements, their construction and size.

Condition of

substrate: Clean and dry, free from dust and loose particles or surface treatments. Paint, laitance and other purely adhering particles must be removed by grinding. Clean joints with compressed air.

Primer: Sika Primer 3 for porous substrates, e.g. concrete, aerated concrete and cement plaster.

Flash off time : minimum 30 minutes, maximum 8 hours.

Sika Cleaner 1 for powder coatings EP and PU coatings

Flash off time: 15 minutes.

Sika Primer 21 for PVC and for mortar in connection joints between PVC and building.

Flash off time : minimum 30 minutes, maximum 8 hours.

Sika Primer 35 for metals e.g. Aluminium, Noble Steel, galvanised steel,

Flash off time : minimum 30 minutes, maximum 8 hours.

Primers are only adhesion promoters. They are not substitutes for cleaning the surfaces nor can they improve their strength significantly

Backfilling: Use only close cell, sealant compatible foam backer rods e.g. high-resilience polyethylene foam rod.

The stated values are indications only.

Remarks: Elastic sealants should not be overpainted in general!

Sealant compatible coatings may cover the joint sides to max. 1 mm. The compatibility must be tested individually according to DIN 52 452-2.

Precautionary

measures: Keep containers tightly closed in dry environment. Observe regulations on label.
